Default Steuben Bucks

Wanted to share some pictures from the group I hunt with inarea 8P in Steuben County. About 3 years ago we decided tostart passing upthe younger bucks and be selective about what we shoot. We have a small group of 8 guys and we lease about 500 acres of Timber and Farmland. Each year we see more and more bigger bucks which has been very encouraging. Since we pass on alot of smaller bucks, we fill our freezers by taking adult does. We hear alot about getting the buck to doe ratio to 2:1 or 1:1 so we feel better about taking the does since the ratio seems to be about 5:1 right now. We don't have the option of planting targeted food plots however, the farmer plants plenty of corn, soybeans, potatoes and clover each year. I know these aren't monsters but, they are decent bucks. Just by passing up the spikes, 4's and 6's each year, you will increase your chances for a nice buck each and every year.

Congrats on the bucks. I do most of my hunting in 8P and have seen some real bruisers over the years. Problem is, its usually not during hunting season. Had a pretty good season...passed on some yearling and two year old bucks and ended up putting 3 slickheads down with my bow and another one saturday evening with a shotgun.

A few pics from this past season...

Here's a stud 8P buck that a buddy of mine killed on the second day of bow season...grossed 167 2/8"
