Seems like a lot of effort just to steal corn. Even for a not too bright criminal.
I swear everything bad happens in your area.
poaching, game law breaking, deer population extirmination, corn stealing, people that break laws & who don't pay fines and stillincur no punishment.
You should move.

Shelled corn here is $6.00 for 50lb bag. I think you're getting ripped at $10.00 a bag on the cobb if you're talking about 50 or even 100lb bags.

Asa resident of Pa. I'm not LMAO .It is a serious problem here in PA. The reason game law violations are so high is because the violators get a slap on the wrist if they are caught. Stealing corn from feeder? Slobs ...

i just bought 10 bags of100 pd bag of shelled corn for 11.66 a bag ea.
our local guy is selling corn on cobb,9 dollars for 80 pd bag that does not even look like 80 pds.
if you are near farms, corn is cheaper but here in WMU2G,there is not much corn as local farmers have it in demand do to CORN STOVES and all the NEW cattle/pigs that people are raising now ..
there is not many corn stoves in small town areas in WMU2Gbut towards the bigger towns, they are getting more abundant.

Were i live you can get a 100 pound bag for around 12 bucks. Pretty cheap i think. I am going to put out a feeder for thedeer, just to help them get more mass which equals bigger antlers. Also i bet the turkeys food is getting pretty low now with all the snow and ice.

RE: CORN BEING STOLEN OUT OF FEEDERS
turkeys without corn would have it a little hard this winter.
we did not have grapes this year.
ground is too hard for them to get at acorns etc.
i saw 10, yes 10 gobblers walking all in row looking for corn this week.

buckclub, we live in an area thats building up so there are less and less oak and no farm crops for them to live on I put out a bit of goat and sheep pellets for them its less expensive and I feel more nutrious any way. Would you happen to be able to tell me if this is so? And if its amuch better answer for those of us that feel a need to feed them. Lee

As an animal nutritionist, I have some issues with feeding deer. Here in NY is it illegal, and I am glad. Deer are ruminants, meaning they need browse to form a proper rumen mat, to keep the rumen pH stable, to keep the blood urine etc pH stable. Corn is a concentrate that when fed free choice at will, will drop the pH of the deers blood putting them into an acidotic state, and this leads to an upset stomach, and sore feet among other health issues. If youHAVE to feed deer corn so that they can survive the winter, you have too many deer for the amount of space! they should be able to have enough fat reserves built up to survive the winter by eating browse, and what ever else mother nature gives them. Its called an ecosystem, let mother nature do her thing!!! some deer will die, big deal its a fact, coyotes, crows, fox will have a meal. Its not humans duty to get in the way of mother nature. Not to mention when you crowd them you are probably doing more harm than good, they will deplete all the browse in that area, leading to starvation and upset corn stomachs. crowding also spreads disease among deer, leading to death. let mother nature do her thing and don't feed the animals!!!
