where does evreybody hunt in the new york area.... i am interested because where i hunt there arent too many bucks and im wondering if you see many/if any near where you hunt??

yea the catskills are nice, it has many deer but it has too many Doe's, i wish there can be more bucks ive only seen one buck last year and it had 5 points it was small so i let it mature until this year....... i go to 3M how bout you??

what are you hunting for meat or trophy? nothing wrong with thinning out the herd by taking does, meat still taste the same!!!

I hunt 3j in the Antler restriction area...... seen more bucks over the 3 years just none as of Saturday......

well im kinda hunting for both it would be a VERY nice treat if i do get a good buck but also im looking forward to filling up the freezer this yea unlike last year.... i hunt on public land so some years it could be rough and last was that year, but 3m has a good amount of deer just notmany mature bucks

Taking a trophy sized deer is NOT something that happens to most southern tier hunters on an annual basis. There are many a hunter who have hunted for years and have yet to connect on a true trophy. Why should it matter if the deer is a trophy sized animal or not? Hunting is even more enjoyable when one gets rid of the trophy only mentality.

I just love to HUNT. A trophy rack is a bonus in my book. I do pass on spikes. I will shoot a doe or any buck that comes my way. I hunt in canastota and if you pass on any size buck the next guy won't. I enjoy sitting in my stand and seeing deer.

Shoot some does and make a difference!! And also if I hear that again "if you pass on any size buck the next guy won't" Its such BS!!! I hear so many people say that. It makes it sound like you all want to pass but you dont to spite the next person. If it honestly is not what you want dont take it, its that simple. If someone else shoots its so beit. Atleast you know you tried to make a difference!!!!!

Telling everyone to shoot some does is BS also! There are numerous zones in the catskill region where doe permits are not being issued or can only be gotten by landowners or hunters with several preference points. The Adirondack has never allowed doe hunting during the regular season. Many of us would shoot them if we were allowed, but since we are not, any buck will be fair game!
