Default PA Hunters, does the USP speak for you?

This is copied verbatim with permission from a post on another board.
Not just a good idea.... something that we need to do ASAP before the legislature gets any more wrong ideas abouthow the majority of hunters really feel

Many of us are tired of the claim the USP is representing our views. We are tired of the claim that there are no deer, the lawsuits, and the endless misinformation propagated by this group. For those that hold this view now is the time to take a stand. The legislature comes back into session on the 18th. We need to make sure they understand where the majority of PA hunters stand on the issues.

Below is a short concise note to send to your legislators. The contact information is also listed. Just copy and paste it into an email. Place your name address and phone number at the bottom:

This note is to inform you of my opinion of the Unified Sportsmen of Pennsylvania law suit just introduced against the PA Game Commission on antlerless deer hunting.

1. I do not support the law suit by the USP.

2. USP does not represent me in this or any other matter.

3. I do not support any of the legislative initiatives proposed by and lobbied for by the USP.

4. I feel that the USP is doing great harm to the heritage and the future of hunting in Pennsylvania.

Add as much to this as you want. Or, send it as it is. The important thing is - if you feel the same way - send it!!

It is very important to send it to both the Chairman and Minority Chairman of both the House and Senate Game and Fisheries Committee. Click on the links below.

Also send a copy to:

[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>

The reason for this is to keep them honest. When they say they aren't getting any email on this - the Federation can produce the actual email. Hard to claim the USP is representing the hunters when you have proof they are not.

House Game and Fisheries Committee:

Senate Game Fisheries Committee:

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/senators_sc.cfm#41

After that send it to your representative and senator. A follow up phone call to the local office wouldn't hurt either.

PA House Members:

PA Senate Members:

Not sure who your legislatures are? Try this. Simply put in your zip code or find your county.

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/index.cfm In the upper right hand corner type in your zip code.

Great idea. I don't want those whackos having anything to do withtrying to persuade the legislatorsregarding hunting laws/changes that may be made.

Up to 42 hits one response.

That tells me you did not ask the right question or make the right answer available.
Maybe closer to the middle.
The P.A.G.C. bitches about money and starts a new study on woods rats?
I know it says all species of birds and animals. But its like in your face.

I don't want to see fifty deer a daybut neither do I care to see three. There just is no middle ground in my eyes and thats why I feel you are not getting responses you would like to see.

I'm open to suggestions as to what would be closer to the middle. Give me a good "closer to the middle" choice and I'll put it up there.

42 hits and 2 posts7 poll responses seems about right for this topic.

2 posts but7 poll responses kind of says it all. There are a lot of folks who just dont want to touch the subject any more. Most folks have their opinion formed and know that no amount of persuasion will sway the other side so they simply respond to the poll and move on.

My guess would also be that some of the 42 hits are simply repeat hits and some are out of staters curious to see if this becomes another PA flame war (I hope not)

Okay, okay... I'll reply, if you want.

I'm not from PA, but have been all over your fine state, driving up to NY, driving west to OH, etc...etc...

The way I have always understood PA is that back when I was a kid, PA was legendary for deer hunting. It was/is a way of life. Heck, I've heard that they even close schools on opening day deer season! [8D]

But then again, that was then. Here we are in 2007. Lots of changes have happend to PA. Lots of bonehead mistakes by the PGC, from what I've read too.

My only question is: Is it really that bad? [&o]

In some areasit is, and in some its great !,but now we have all taken sides.

Love it or Hate it.
And both sides are to fault.
We have the burn the tags group. And then we have the lets kill them all.

There is no middle ground.

For every guy that burns his tag some one will post killing five does just to pissem off.

I have given up my land could support twice the deer but I'm just human.

Mines posted.

What's your point?. Look at any thread in this region and you get about 10-50 hits for each reply

USP has gained a foot hold mostly out of both frustration & ignorance.
Yes there were to many deer in areas. Are there to few now ,same answer yes.
This is where some middle ground could be found.
Everyone needs to calm down and look past their own noses.
The if its is brown its down crowd are as much to blame as the burn them tags guys.

It still is and they still do. But some have grown away from what hunting deer really is and want it made easier. They got spoiled and refuse to go back. They grew outta touch with nature, the wild, and the ways of the woods.

But then again, that was then. Here we are in 2007. Lots of changes have happend to PA. Lots of bonehead mistakes by the PGC, from what I've read too.

Changes have been for the better, contrary to that usp group. The only major mistake the PGC has made was backing off the educational tours. To many people didn't take the time to learn about all the details and were left in the dark. Don't believe everything you read because most of the negative stuff you read about comes from the uniformed, such as the usp which is a very short sighted, small but effective group.

So no, it's really not that bad at all.... unless you were one of the spoiled ones. IMO
