Default When do crows migrate through WV?

I'd like to have another hunting season to look forward to, when crow migration corresponds with a crow season. Anyone give it a go, or is it not worth the effort?

Thanks

Yeah as far as I know crows don't migrate. They're most active in the morning hours and the hours before dark. They go from roost to some place where they spend the day and then they come back. The key is finding their flyways. You need good camo because they can see like a hawk and are smart. Check out this site. www.crowbusters.com
I've never been successful but I also have not tried really. I'm going to get some decoys for next year along with a caller. The best crow hunting is in when it is like 40 and above IMO.

Good luck.

OK, thanks. I remembered seeing them streaming in an endless line for a long time in Southern Maryland, figuring it was some sort of migratory route.

Crow hunting is a ball!

Get an owl decoy a few crow dekes and a couple of pieces of black fabric about 20" by 8" and attach the black flag to the owls feet. Use the dying crow call. Never (well seldom anyway) fails

Hey BT, it also requires and electronic caller too, right? Or are regular crow calls sufficient?

Crows are considered migratory birds and there are federal regulations governing their seasons. They can be called with blown calls but you can get tired after a few hours. I have an electronic caller and several self blown calls that I use. They are a lot like geese in that the warmer winters we have had in the past have encouraged them not to migrate so far south and so it seems like they don't migrate at all...but many still do.
Good luck and have fun.

Personally, I use an electronic caller but I've seen some guys who were pretty good with a mouth blown call. If you go that way, get a good training tape and practice a bit before you go out. Crows are among the smartest critters you will ever hunt.

If you're married, practice in your garage or while driving your car rather than at home to avoid serious injury

The difference between a young crow and an old crow. They both know when you are holding a gun but the old crow knows when it's loaded.
