RE: Good Luck NY
Deer Hunting report from the southern zone in NY for me goes like this... Deer 1...me zero. Seriously though everyone is tagging up on does and some big ones at that! A few big bucks are being shot including one that should score in the 160's maybe high 160's typical. Had alot of stickers on that one. But things are looking very up on the harvest for this year.

near Town of Olive, Ulster County, NY (350 acre private land bordering the state land)
Opening day, no bucks, 22 does seen, 1 taken, about half to 3/4 of them with semi adult fawns following.
2nd day, not a single doe or buck seen
this weekend;
saturday, not a single thing seen, someone else on the property supposedly missed/saw a doe.
Today, Sunday, 7:45 am, I got a nice six pointer, didn't see or hear of anything else on the property. Best of luck to all, off to port jervis area next weekend to fill out the DMP's.

RE: Good Luck NY
Here is my report. I didnt see a single deer all week until sunday. Sunday morning about 10am 2 doe ran by me about 5 yards away. I yelled out stop, one ran off and the other stopped 30yds away. I shot the one that stopped, it ran 20yards and stopped again. I reloaded my muzzleloader, shot it again and it died right there. It was the first deer i have shot in 5 years, and my first with my muzzleloader. I usually let does walk on by but i really wanted to take one with my ML. While i was gutting my deer out, i heard crashing. I turn around and look and 3 more doe are standing there 40yards away looking at me. I made the mistake of leaving my gun 6 feet away leaning against a tree. By the time i got my gun, they decided to vacate the area. Next time i will keep it close by.
Hunting chemung county by the way.
Another friend of mine shot a 15pt buck that weighed 185lbs dressed. Its an awesome deer. The rack isnt perfectly symmetrical, but its big and a 15 point. There is one more point about a 1/2" long. If you can count that, its a 16pt. He said it ran by with another buck that loooked to be an 8 pt, but had a bigger/wider rack.
