ny grouse/woodcock reports
Not looking for any secret coverts, but are there any reports on how the grouse, and woodcock season is going in ny??
Anyone hunting the WMA's??
Northern, Southern zone??
Thinking of going the week before the southern zone regular season, but not seeing any reports on bird numbers out there.
THANKS!!

I saw a few Grouse while squirrel hunting in 3 Rivers. I have also see woddcock from my stand and even caught one with mith hands. It flew into a glass window at 3:00 am at work. I held it and then tossed it up in the air and it flew up. That is in Syracuse.

not ny ,but here in pa. grouse are not to plentiful, there are some ..woodcock seem to be coming back but i dont shoot them.. i flushed 4 the other day..
i am seeing a lot more hunters looking for grouse with dogs..i never see them kill to many as these grouse are hard to get after leaves drop..some of my shots are 60 yards or more..i use high brass no.6 shot with full choke..
my secret to getting them over other hunters is to hunt them in the WIND not calm day..this is only way you are going to sneak up on a pa. grouse after leaves are off..

I always hear and see grouse on the Tug Hill in Northern NY. It's nothing to go out and hear them flapping their wings. I know there is quite a bit of state land there to hunt for grouse. Try lookingup Little John WMA.
