we got them in NY..."Nuisance permits" It's not a real big problem with people scanning the system and taking them suring summer. I think to be eligible in NY you have to have Visible Crop Damage and Own atleast 50acres of land in a central location.

If it's anything like alot of PA farmers who shoot big bucks and not does for crop damage, yes it will hurt your herd....I feel for farmers but if they post the property, they shouldn't be able to shoot for crop damage...

If I'm reading this correctly they got far less than the original bill outlined. They still need permits and still need hunters to shoot the deer(only).

These farmers are not going out on the Old John Deere with a 12g blasting away and expect to solve the problem. They need hunters! I also don't see any provision for centerfire weapons which was discussed in house commitee meetings as F&W advised us in a recent meeting.Thank God for that!

I did my duty to get some opposition on the original bill.Don't know if it had any bearing - But - they didn't get all they wanted.

From what I read off the links, seems pretty vague to me. Farmers have to get thepermits from DNREC and it doesnt seem like they can just call up on the phone and get them. They have toshow proof of crop loss. That takes some doing. I dont see it as a blank check to kill deer.

A farmer can't legally shoot deer for crop damage in PA if their land is posted.
