Squirrel Hunters?
Hello Everyone:
I am new to this forum but thought that it would be interesting to find out how many squirrel hunters there are up here in New England. I know there are not as many as in Virginia where I grew up or in Missouri where my family is from but I just would like to know! Thanks.

RE: Squirrel Hunters?
I'm glad to see people from several states reply! Up here in central Maine (where I finished my undergrad) most people look at you like you have six heads if you tell them you hunt squirrel. I think it is because most of what people are used to is the red squirrel, which they consider a pest. There are getting to be more and more gray squirrels all of the time and it would be great if more people jumped on the squirrel huntin' bandwagon so popular in other parts of the country. Don't get me wrong, while there are some squirrel hunters up here there just doesn't seem to be the passion felt about it elsewhere. Do you think it could have a cultural precursor as well?

squirrel hunter, dont know if you consider Pa. as anew england state, but i an definately a squirrel hunter. ive hunted them for years and find it to be as much fun as deer hunting. here in Pa. we have greys, fox, blacks, and of course the miserable red squirrel. i even use a squirrel call when hunting them. have fun hunting.
