RE: DE Archery Season - NOV
Its just not meant to be. I moved to within 15yds from where the deer paraded by on Friday. Today, one buck, then a doe went right by where I sat before on Friday. Deer were moving despite the warmth though starting around 4:30pm. Tomorrow I'm putting my father in the area I was in the last 2 hunts and I'm going to hunt my ladder stand about 100 yds away. Thats if the wind is SW as predicted. If it swings East early, we are done until shotgun. Cant get off any other time this week.
At least its been exciting. Im thinking next year I'm going to bag the vaca I take during shotgun and just hunt the week before with the bow. No body else is hunting and the deer are moving. Cant beat it!

i made the decision today...i am not hunting DE this year. I love hunting the state but the farmer in NJ has to many places for to hunt and i want to take advantage of it. i hunted over sweet potatoes tonight and the tracks were everywhere. i cannot wait until wednesday. i am off and will be out there to give it try. the area is off the charts and i am going to have to scout(in season) to decide where i am going to hunt in the wooded areas.
anyway, i love DE and will be back one day. good luck to everyone and save some for me. it is hard doing this because of all of the deer that are in the area near my mothers house, but u cant hunt everywhere.

DM u r right...no one is out there hunting. i havent seen a person, but i am hunting private.i am hunting the entire month of november with no guns in NJ...awesome. the gunning in de was the one thing i hated. small gamers would kill my hunts. the dogs and such were just to much. once the dogs are on your area...forget it. i love hunting there though and the state has provided great hunting opps for the citizens. anything could be improved, but they have done a good job

Two more hunts, and nothing to show. Saturday we hunted my buddies farm, I didn't see a thing, but they saw a bunch, nothing that would get to close though from what they said. I am getting excited about the geese though, I havn't seen this many geese since I've been a kid. It's great to see them make there comeback, and it's going to be a fun season. Yesterday morning I picked the wrong stand, so I am feeling you DM. The stand I should have been in had two does walk by at 20 yards, and that's were I hunted Saturday . I saw another small buck walk out in front of my sand at 60 yds, but he was going some where, not spoked, just new where he wanted to go. I think I'm done w/ the bow until after shotgun, I need to start filling my freezer.

I think the warm weather slowed them down today. Only saw one small deer across the way about 5:15pm. Dad saw nothing.
Thats it for me with the bow until probably XMAS week. I will hunt the shotgun season next week. Then Canada goose season comes in and i'll be doing that. I'll keep the corn fresh at the leased place and hunt the shotgun antlerless weekends in DEC. Then from XMAS until Jan 31st it'll be nothing but the continuation of the bow hunting quest! By New Years, everyone around our farm pretty much packs it in so I pretty much have the area to myself. If the weather gets real cold and we get some snow, things usually pick up nicely. We'll just have to wait and see,,,,,
