LEAVING YOUR STAND
Hey Everyone,
Lets say that its the end of the day and there is no more shooting light left. Normally
you'd simply get down from your stand as quietly as possible and walk back to the truck.
However, this time there are several does under and near your stand because you hung your stand in the middle of a hot oak patch. Obviously you don't want to spook the deer, but you do need to "push them off" so they don't see you get down from your stand. What do you? I find myself in this situation way too often and almost always end up spooking the deer and then I can't use that stand for awhile. Any tactics out there that anyone uses? Looking for advise. Thanks.

Or you can put your stand on a edge or entry area so the deer will work past not stay to feed . IMO the best place for a big buck is neer heavy cover anyway not in the open middle !!!!!!!

I usually try to make a noise to scare them like a bobcat screech or a high pitched noise that they won't associate to humans. Or I will drop something down to the ground to spook them but yet they still won't know what did it. It could have been a tree limb fell or something.

I would lower your hat or other small article that might carry some scent on them that might give the idea that somebody might be coming. I certainly would not do it if they are not used to smelling humans. Whatever scent they might be used to smelling that might be a moderate threat lower and watch them leave but not in a panic. Normally I just jump out of my stand on the biggest does back and take it for a ride Rambo style!
