RE: Doyle to raise Wi. Hunting / Fishing fees ?
I found this quote from another site. <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>The license fee increase that is going to be proposed is a 60% increse. Resident deer license would go from $20 to $32. A similar increase in the NR license would go to $215
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
I could live with a bit of an increase, but 60%! Guess I'd probably choose to just purchase an Archery tag. Wait, last time I checked, I'm in the E Zone. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> 32 bucks to hunt NO DEER! Sure hope I get a moose this fall.

IT's about time <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
NR license fees have been too low for several years....
To hunt deer in Iowa or Illinois you must purchase a limited availability deer permit, hunting/small game license, habitat stamp, and pay a application fee for a total of aprox. $284-$308.
In Wisconsin, the 44,000 Non-resident deer license purchasers spent only $135 for a NR deer license.
This won't generate billions, but it's a good start, and long over due.
Now if only the state would require NR deer and turkey hunters to purchase a $75 hunting/small game license like Illinois and Iowa too!!

There was a article in the Wisconsin Outdoor News explaining the fee increases. The Patrons is going up another $30, gun and bow deer license up $12, fishing up $6. These were resident increases. Everything just keeps going up. Factories close. Economy sucks. Now our favorite pastime gets an increase. The good news is this isn' t supposed to happen until 2004! Not that I vented a little, I guess I' ll pay. Won' t like it but I will.

Regarding the WI increase, I' ll live with it. I can not recall the last time they went up in price. I' ve been getting a Conservation Patron and reserved number since the first time they have offered it and sort of lost track of the individual lic fees. It would be nice if the money stayed in the area from which it came but I have to believe otherwise.
As far as the NR fee are concerned I' d like to see some type of a reciprocal agreement with the other states that border WI or offer like game. to hunt.

Nobody likes and increase, but you have to play the game and go by the rules !!!
