g&b: Its happened a couple of times. One was a positive result from the DNR's test of a captive deer, the owner saved a 2nd tissue sample and had it independently tested. That one showed it was negative.

O.K., actually I was aware of this one. I'm assuming this refers to the Almond deer farm where the buck supposedly had CWD. The owner, Mr. Hall claims he never saw test results from the DNR- simply a call stating his deer had CWD. He later sent a sample from the same deer to Laura(?) Williams. She is the scientist credited with discovering CWD many years ago. Apparently, she tested this deer sample at a Wyoming facility where it tested negative.
I've followed this particular story closely- (1)I live within 30 miles of the farm and (2)my in-laws reside down there and have friends in common with the owner.
In my original post, I figured the Wauwatosa lab might be working together with the DNR, but after thinking about it, someone could send a sample to both without the "other" knowing about it, too.
