I don't even do it anymore since they want me to pay over 200 bucks for an out-of-state permit to hunt my own land. If I'm ever that hard up for venison, I'll just take a mid-february stroll with my .17 cal.

It's currently only $50to hunt your own ground for aneither sex and $25 for an antlerless tag. The Either sex is likely going up to $100 and the antlerless down to $15. All you have to do is apply for nonresident landowner tags.http://dnr.state.il.us/legal/Proposed/650-Proposed.pdf

Unless they changed the rules, you have to have at least 40 acres to qualify for nonresident tags. I don't

I think that rule is a bad one. Personally I think landowners should get free tags over that and under that get reduced rates for property only. Even those that are non residents. Too bad the DNR don't care.

Hell, I wouldn't mind just paying the regular resident fee, but with the landowner perk being that I'm guaranteed a tag. I would love to see the current regulations changed, but, with the current anti-out of state hunters sentiment (even if you spent most of your life in the state), I don't see it happening.
