Well You can enter a doe for Minnesota, on the scale she’s 125lbs, strange though she had a 42" girth which means, according to the charts she should be 170lbs field dressed, I think either those charts are off, or my deer has hollow bones...

Merely, maneuvered chaos.....?

Nothing for WI yet?

Alright, here's my largest three from WI so far...

9/15/02: 120# doe

10/05/02: 100# doe

11/15/02: 200# 10-point Buck. I rescored him with a flexible tape and came up with...P&Y gross of 141 3/8, and net of 137 6/8. The weight was estimated by the chest, neck, and boned out meat. Chest was 41", neck was 31", boned out meat was a hair under 90#.

Funny, I live in IL and haven't taken a deer here yet this year.

Everytime the hunting.net system crashes, my address goes back to my old one which I no longer use. My current email address is [email protected] It's starting to be a pretty close competition.

Just to give those folks not familiar with the weight charts nor how to measure a deers girth some idea, the weight charts are very accurate and have been in use for years. They are accurate +/- 5 lbs.
A good example is VC's buck this year. It had a girth measurement of about 43 inches and should have a field dress weight of about 204 lbs. After VC's deer hung for 4 days in camp he took it to his butcher and had it put on a scale. It weight 200 lbs.
I started using the charts years ago after first checking out their accuracy agianst the actual scale. As long as you measure the deer in the correct place, immediately behind the from leg, before you field dress it you are going to get a accurate weight estimate. If you measure it further forward it eill read high and not be accurate.

I e-mail the charts to KShunter and maybe he'll post them. I don't have the ability to post photos or graphics at this time.

Osprey, I hope you don't have a sick deer there, maybe CWD.

Work hard and be true to yourself.

Hey Team Ia/Mn, time to get in your teestands.
We're getting smoked<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>. All the big boys
are on the move now.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Kshunter,
I haven't got my buck scored yet, have to pick
up the rack from my taxidermist. He's about a
hour away, so hopefully I can get it in the
next week or so. His dressed weight was 200
and we rough scored him (really rough,
in the back of the pickup at 9:00 at night)
at 139. I'll post or e-mail you as soon as
I get him scored.

Thanks
TB

logs,
the deer looked very healthy, even fat compared to the rest of the deer I saw, so I don't think she was sick. and I did measure her right behind the front legs. I don't know I guess I could have done something wrong, my scale could be off to, It's new, and the deer is the only thing I have weighed on it.

Merely, maneuvered chaos.....?

Osprey, that's good to hear your deer appears good. MN is right between the western edge an eastern edge of the areas of CWD and unfortunately no one knows if it will spread to MN.
