RE: is there going to be a shoot at rend lake
Matt;
The last Illinois Bowfishers scheduled shoot was the first annual "Poole Shoot" last weekend at Clinton Lake. Most of our membersshift gears into the "Deer Hunting" mode. The fish are still there and some of the members will shift gears back to the Bowfishing mode after they shoota deeror two or fill their tags. Some members just shoot till it start getting a little colder. There are a few diehard bowfishers that shoot all year long. THe fish are still in the water and you will find carp and buffs but no gar. In my opion some of the best shooting is in the colder weather. The water get real clear. Just fish in the same areas that you find fish in the summer or if you can find a hot water discharge lookout......
The next Illinois Bowfishers scheduled event at Rend will be in April about the 3 weekend. Watch the site for details. It is possible the club could have another event at Rend.
I was at Carterville Sunday at the National Fishing and Hunting days and talked to another group of bowfishers. They claim to be organizing some big payout tournaments for next year at various southern Il. lakes.
There is nothing stopping you or anyone from putting on a tournamentat Rend and promoting it. As the club gets more members in S. IL. the tournaments will increase in the southern part of the state.
I look for a tournament next year at Calryle and at New Athens on the Kashaski River.
The club is now discussing a tournament and or fun shoot in the Grand Chain area on the Ohio River for next year. Stay tuned.

Matt, we would love to have one on the Ohio River. What month do you think would work out best? - Definitely after the spring flooding and normal water levels I presume. Would mid or late July work as we don't often have a shoot at that time? Where on the River are you at?
