I heard about that special permit hunt at Wolf Creek; never applied for a permit though. Tim, maybe Chris and I can meet you for dinner - definately for the campfire. I hope you have good weather for camping.

RE: Hunting Buddy Needed - Shelbyville
Well, Chris and I met in Shelbyville for some deer and squirrel hunting (with the emphasis on deer hunting). Unfortunately,Chrishad a chestcold and hunted for only60 minutes on Saturday. This excludes the20 minutes we spent tryingto find the 'tree' in the dark (my bad - I got disoriented in the dark with only flashlights for light). Chris attached adeer carrierto his car - attached is a picture of the carrier fully loaded.
As you can see,I broke inmy new shotgun with Chris instructing me on how to load the damn thing. We saw plenty of deer, unfortunately, they were in the fields well after sunset. Chris left on Monday morning and I hunted two more days. I was squirrel hunting on Tuesday morning when a doe and a chasing buck almost ran me over. They both stopped about 30 feet away with the buckgrunting up a storm- it made the trip worth while. I set up my stand the next day in that area but I didn't see any deer.
Another bowhunter bagged an 8-point 210 lb deer (field dressed) in the area Chris and I were hunting. We knew the deer were there, we just couldn'tsee one with the bow in our hands.
It was still a great time. If wehad more hunters, we could have surrounded them!
Chris andI had aninteresting time in town - we can't recommend the Courthouse Restaurant but we can recommend the bar across the street - Mugshots.

Good thing my cargo rack has a 300 pound limit...almost maxxed it out there. heh heh
Those southern deer are smaller than they are up north.
Definitely lots of deer activity down that way. We saw plenty of scrapes, and freshly disturbed leaves on the well worn deer trails. They were in the field within an hour of dark every night, but just wouldn't show themselves during shooting time. We didn't quite have enough days to put together all the pieces of where they hid in the daytime, but I sure had a good time scouting it and trying out different theories.
Yeah, the bar was interesting.
The local color was, um, 'entertaining' to say the least.
Almost didn't get my belt back. [:-]
