Rock River Bowfishing
#2
RE: Rock River Bowfishing
I'm from Oregon, IL which is about 25 miles south of Rockford, and the Rock flows through my hometown. There are some pretty big carp and buffalo in the Rock. Unfortunately, most of the places I know of that have a good population of both, the Dam and Sand Sucker Hole, are within the city limits and off limits to bowfishing. There is one place south of Oregon by the Lowden-Miller State Forest Area that I think would have good populations of both, and that is Kyte Creek. Growing up, we caught several big carp in there. I'll be honest with you, I haven't been up the Kyte in several years, but I would assume not much has changed.
Let me know when you go up. If you want someone to go with you I might just be available.
Anyway, I hope this helps a bit.
