I have hunted in New Brunswick several times and while I know that there are some 400-500 pd bears, they are few and far between. I would take that 250 lb bear average with a grain of salt. I am not elaborating much further on this, but you do the math to get an average of 250 lbs. Alot of people shoot bears in the 100lb range thinking that they are much bigger (me being one of them). It happens all the time. This seriously brings down the averages quick.
I am telling you this just so you go in with a realistic mind frame. The outfitter is probably very good since it is recommended by another source with not interest involved.
