Default Free range Texas deer hunt

We are looking at selling one to two rifle or bow hunts. We have a ranch in the middle of 10,000 acres that does not hunt in West Texas near Garden City, Texas (fly into Midland). Management or trophy hunt. Trophy hunts are negotiated on price depending on size. Bucks up to 192" have been shot in the past. Seeing 10 bucks a sitting not uncommon. We feed 800-1000 lbs of protein pellets every week to ten days from february through september! Thats a lot of deer. Small comfy cabin. Some javelinas. Very high buck/doe ratio (have only shot 3 doe in 10 years). 2-3 day hunt with food is $5,000 for buck up to 140".

$5000 for a buck up to 140. All I can say is good luck selling that hunt cause that's high as HE!! You can find quality hunts much cheaper than that. I would hate to know what you would want for a 190 inch deer. And you stated you have a good buck to doe ratio and have only shot 3 doe's in 10 years I don't see how your ratio would be that good!!!!!!

Browtine...woops! Up to 140 is 3000.00! Hit the wrong key. We did sell a 180" buck for 7500.00 and the 192" went for 17,500 (but this went to a charity on a donated hunt so that is the reason it went for big $$). I would consider harvesting the drop tine buck above for 5000 though.

Default buck to doe ratio

We estimate 2 to 2.5 bucks to every doe on our ranch. This has been very good for us since most people like shooting bucks rather than doe. This makes the rut very interesting hunting also. The competition for the doe is high for breeding. In most cases we try to harvest any buck that is 4.5 years of age that is 8 points or less. Earlier if they are clearly undesirable bucks.
