New Mexico Private Land Hunting ,
Unit 17 near Magdalena , in the heart of some of the
finest elk hunting in North America.
This is a primitive arms only for elk unit. Only Modern Muzzle loader (scoped ok) and Archery hunting are allowed in the whole Unit. This has allowed lots of mature bulls to grow old and sport some very impressive antlers.
300-350 inch bulls are not out of the ordinary in this unit.

This private land ranch hunt has additional advantages. This ranch , composed of 44,000 acres prox has three distinct honey holes where the 19 springs water lots of critters including a large elk herd . These three wet areas congregate the deer and elk on appx 5000 acres,, which makes the hunting much more efficient. Nine different mature herd bulls were frequent visitors to these water holes last season.
A VERY RESPECTED HUNTING MAGAZINE and owner Garth Carter rate Unit 17 Muzzle Loader season as the best in the whole state of New Mexico and Unit 17 Archery hunting as one of the best. Garth Carter the owner of "HUNTIN FOOL" has first hand experience as he harvested a great 367" bull last year in Unit 17. Unit 17 is also one of the top deer units in the state of New Mexico . This private ranch deer herd is managed for quality bucks. You will see a lot of deer, hopefully you will see one that will be proudly harvested.
The Landowner vouchers allow you to buy an elk or deer license for the hunts being offered. These tags (vouchers) do not have to be drawn, they are guaranteed tags and plans can be made immediately for your hunt.
Rates are:
Elk $5250 , Includes Guaranteed L/O Tag,
access to very remote private land Elk hunting,Lodging, Use of rifle and bow range.
Harvested animal field dressed and made ready for processor.
DIY hunt , or semi -guided hunt, (one on four guide)
*add $200 per day for 1 on 1 guide.
Deer $3250, same as above.
