Lodging:
We have several camps in the Weminuche Wilderness. Our camp in The Back Hi Country is an adventurous hunt for the experienced hunter. Backcountry Experience offers it all for the avid hunter. Beautifully located with breathtaking scenery, majestic mountainsides, plentiful wildlife, including moose, and, most of all, quality elk. We offer you all the things to make your trip comfortable. Enjoy great cowboy cooking and friendly staff that has knowledge of the mountains and hunting. Enjoy your nights camping out under the stars or in tents.
About the Area:
Our main location is at Vallecito Lake, town mailing address is Bayfield, Colorado, 81122. Vallecito Lake is located just 25 miles northeast of Durango in beautiful Southwestern Colorado, in the Four Corners area. We operate with permits in the San Juan National Forest and the Weminuche Wilderness, one of the largest Wilderness permits in the country. We are bonded, licensed and insured.

Tranportation: Make your own way to Vallecito Lake, located in Bayfield, Colorado.
Licenses: Non-resident elk tag costs $490.25 in 2005 Archery tags are available over the counter. Muzzleloader tags are available through the draw for unit 751
