Default Flip up scope covers

I have no experience with these but may get some when I get my new scope in Feb. Do they make any noise? Alot of my shots are less than 50 yds. and don't want to spook one away that slips up and is 15 yds. away. Which brands are most reliable and the quietest? Thanks, Scott woody

I use the covers from Quake Industries. They are quiet and don't snap up since they don't have the push button.

i have a set of butler creek ones on my 30 06 they do make noise, but its very loud. it might spook game in that close a range, or might just make them stop and have a look around and give you time to get a shot off. Im not sure i have takin a shot that close.

I have used the butler creeks for many years.Never had a problem with them spooking game. You can remove them very slowly and quietly with a little practise.

I have the Bulter Creek Blizzard eye piece on most of my hunting rifles with no issues. There are ways to eliminate the sound they can make when opening so play with them a bit and you'll find they won't hamper your hunt in any way! You could also look at the blizzard eye piece cover vs the red tab one, this opens like the objective cover and you may find you can control it better in relation to noise. I think you'll find like most unless required they will be open while sitting or stand hunting, so the point then is moot.

the flip open caps make noise when you open them and when you close them. i wish there was a better way.

I've been using Butler Creek SC's for a long time. Never a problem.Once I'm in my climber they are opened and stay opened until I come down. Weather permitting of course.

Use Butler Creek, covers are a must in snow or rain.
