I think the savage is a better gun, they are extremely accurate from my experience, even though they are kinda ugly but accuracy kills, not looks or price.

I'm partial to Remington...I've had nothing but good luck with them.

I didn't read all the replies here...so maybe someone mentioned this already.... IMO, whatever gun you decide on, stay away from cheap optics. Get the best you can afford. Leupold VXII or better would be my choice. Good luck

I have a Savage, black synthetic stock with a Simmions scope, 30-06 and I love the gun. Killed many deer, don't remember how many. I did change the scope to a Bushnell and like it even better.

So my recommendation is to start with their setup and move the scope to a better one.
