RE: Butler Creek Scope caps? Gimmick
I've used them nearly since they became available. They do any extremely good job of protecting the lenses of the scope from brush, snow, wet, etc. Yet they allow very rapid access to the scope when you need it....or I'll just click them open when on stand...or still hunting in dryer weather. One of the best pieces of equipment, especially for the money, that I own.
I wouldn't think of taking a scoped rifle out without them!
P.S. This is my opinion only....but I personally think it is silly to risk hundreds (or more) dollars of optical investment....to save $15. or $20. Especially when they work so well! (I use the Butler Creek Flip ups....not the clear plastic "see throughs".) And they have never cost me a shot at game...and with a little forethought of use...they shouldn't any one else!
