for me...any tree stand is better than a ground blind for numerous reasons. (1) treestands keep you out of the direct line of sight of deer. (2) treestands keep the majority of your odor up in the air instead of all of it floating ground level. (3) treestands give you a 100% better field of view versus on the ground. (4) climbing treestands are as portable as a ground blind if not more portable. i can put my Summit on a tree and take it off quicker than you can set up and take down MOST ground blinds.

Default Scouting for a ground blind

I plan to travel to PA to do their post Thanksgiving gun season.
I plan to hunt in their cold weather from a blind, so I can get out of the frigid wind.
I spent years in warm weather, green leaves still on the trees, up in trees in the south.
The last place you'll find me is in a tree stand on a frigid day in PA. Besides the leaves will be off the trees and distances will increase.

I might just bring a small propane tank and an attached heater. I'm thinking of making it as comfortable a "russian dasha" as I can. The youngins can sit in the windy cold. Maybe even take a half hour nap.
