I turn my pack upside down and wrap the waist strap around the top of the tree stand.

I try to avoid any pack at all and travel light when hauling my climber. Sometimes I will bedroll my warm clothes, tie them to the stand, and pocket all other essentials. I don't like the clinking and clanking that goes on between the stand and the buckles.

I don't use a backpack. I carry some essentials in a small camo fanny pack. I turn it around to the front when I'm packing the climber. I also bedroll my insulated coveralls in it so I don't get overheated walking in.

I have a D ring on my backpack on the top loop...just clip the d ring to the stand.
