The best binoculars
I've been in the market for a new pair of binoculars for the last couple months. I read a equipment review by Petzal in Field and Stream a while ago, and I think I may end up getting the Leupold Gold Ring or the Nikon Monarch X brand binocs.
My question is, since I live in Nevada and primarily hunt in open country, would any of you recommend the 8x42 over the 10x42, or vice versa? Or do any of you have other recommendations for brands?

Thank you. I can't remember binoculars costing so much. My dad bought me a pair of Jason PermaFocus 8x40s about 15 years ago for maybe less than $100. They worked phenomenally until I dropped them a couple months ago. Now they see double..lol.
They were porro prism, they weren't fogproof, they did get scratched up, and there was no lifetime warranty on them like the Leupolds I'm considering. It seems like I've been missing out on great features and I never knew it. Ignorance is bliss?.......

Zeiss Victory's!!! used to have swaro's and the leicas...but I like zeiss best!!! leo's are good but for a few more dollars why not get the best and be done with it. If you are a die-hard hunter you will have them the rest of your life and the way I feel is my glass is my number one tool in my hunting bag!
Search cameralandny.com or eurooptics.com for best prices as sometimes you can find a real good deal on demo samplers ...
good luck

I just bought Zhumell 8x42 Short Barrel Waterproof Binoculars. I did a lot of reading and these had great reviews, I should get them tomorrow and I will give everyone an update. I went real cheap and bought a pair of Bushnell waterproof binos at walmart and returned them after I opened them. They were very cheap looking and I couldnt focus them.

i just upgraded from nikon monarchs to vortex razor 10x42. phenominal glass. also i think that you can still get a$100 rebate if you buy soon putting the price tag at $660.
Look them up on the birding websites, they get great reviews and ar oftencompared to the alpha glass with half the pricetag.
Also, after looking through the razors i cant imagine how much better zeiss, swaros or leicas could be.
good luck
