Default Arctic Shield Opinions

Hi, just wondering if anyone uses or has used the arctic sheild bibs or jackets? I have a hard time staying warm and have considered these. So what do you think of them???

Thanks

I have never used Arctic Shield, but was somewhat curious about their boot warmer covers at one time.

I have the boot covers and don't like them. When I used them I did not notice that the kept my feet any warmer, but you do have to be very careful when moving on your stand. They have a "non-skid" type botton and are loud if you don't "lift" and "replace" your foot.
That said, I have had guys tell me that they work well by taking off your hunting boots and only wearing the Artic Shields once you get on stand.

I've used Arcticshield forover 2 yearsnow. Here is what I have found:

1) Keeps you warm. The ReTain does work. It kept me warm in 10-20 degree weather with snow blowing all around me. I layered with poly-underwear and polartec fleece.
2) Waterproof. I was warm and cozy oneday it rained heavily.
3) Noisy at first. It makes a crinkling noise when you first buy it. I think that is the ReTainmaterial. What you need todo is break it in. Wash it then stick it in the dryer and let it tumble on no heat for a while. I did this a handful of times. Someone recommended sticking in a gym shoe in the dryer with itthen rewashing.I didn't try that. Mine doesn't crinkle as much now that I broke it in.
4) The gloves and booties work as advertised. BUT you need to wear less insulated boots. If you wear really thick insulated boots, your feet sweat while walking to your hunting spot. Your feet will feel cold afterwards. Make sure you zip them up and do not let any of the heat escape. The gloves' palm material can get wet. This is the one area they are not waterproof.

I've been happy with Arcticshield and just bought another set for my Father-in-law for his first hunt.

Hope that helps.

Last year was my first year with the Arctic Shield. I learned really quick to wait a while after I got in the stand to put it on or it would burn ya up. With that being said though if you give it a little while and then put it on...it does very well. No complaints here. Good purchase. I have the bibs and coat.
