Well, you're out in Id so having you drop it off so I can break it in properly is out of the question. But, I wouldn't ride it too hard for the first 15-20 hours (that's what dealer told me), then it goes in for all fluids changed and adjust the "tappets" & cables, brakes, etc. I bought a Bruin last year and that service cost like $120 I believe.
Also, if you're intrested in a winch, I picked up a nice, new 2000# Venom on E-Bay for $131.99 delivered.
Also, a good investment is another foam air cleaner element. That way one can always be clean, dried and libed, ready for swap out. That way, if it's stored in a bag it's always ready to go. A dirty air cleaner really cuts down on power.
Looking forward to breaking it in this weekend. Any feedback, tips, etc. is welcome.

Thanks for the tips
Don't need the winch. They had a special promo for a Warn winch on the quad for $69 after purchase, so I took advantage of that. I almost bought the Bruin, but opted for the independant suspension on all 4 tires.

No tips really, but I too have an '03 Kodiak 400. It's done everything I've asked it to do. Don't run it wide open for extended periods until the break in period is over. Keep your fluids checked and you will have no problems.

Jaydog: I may go with a little meatier tires next year...once the sticker shock wears off the wife and she gives me the checkbook back.
TrophyBux: Where I'll be taking it I won't have much room to go wide open...but will give that independant suspention a work out.
coelkhntr: I almost got the 450, but went with the 400 cuz of the sticker price. My wife is still shell shocked though. GuessI better be setting up an account with FTD Floral now to make up for it...hahaha
