Might leave MI. Good state for pulic land hogs?
I might end up leaving MI. due to job loss. Most importantly I need to find work. But let's say I can get a decent job in any state the most important thing to draw me to a state would be feral hog hunting. I know the Carolinas have pigs. From what I understand pretty much any costal areas all the way to California will have them. But what's my best bet. Considering bag limits hunting methods the state will allow and available public land?
Thanks.

Texas has more hogs by far than any other state. However, I don't know much about public land opportunities for them. Most of the state is privately owned.

Public land pigs are hard to come by out here in California, but can be found. Public land deer and birdhunting can be excellent with no shortage of land. Here's a picture of a pig taken yesterday...

Short History Lesson: After Texas' war for independence from Mexico (Remember the Alamo?) Texas was an independent republic for ten years. Suffering massive debt, it sold much of its land to the US to pay the debt, then joined as a state. Since it was an equal (as opposed to being a territory owned by the USA) Washington got essentially no land ownership in the state. Texas is also the only state in the nation that is permitted to fly its flag at the same height as the national flag.[/End_Lesson]
