The hogs around our place are more active at night. After deer season, we use solar powered yard lights around the feeders. They provide enough light to get a shot or two off. Usually, we're in 2 or more blinds because even after being shot at, sometimes they'll continue to make the circuit of feeders.

we have just started having a bad hog problem in the last few years, and its true what the others say. you can't shoot those little ****s fast enough to cut down on the population. if i'm not mistaken a sow can have up to three litters a year and can have up to twelve pigs in a litter. thats 36 pigs per year per sow. ofcourse thats a tad extreme but you get the idea. we somewhat control the population by shooting every one we see, and by trapping. in fact i killed a boar this evening deer hunting.

Focus your efforts on shooting the smaller pigs, especially the gilts (sows not yet bred) then work on reducing the number of sows. Big boars are fun to hunt, but the reproductive power of a sounder (herd of wild/feral pigs) of pigs is the sows.
