Sorry, RH. I guess maybe I, and perhaps he, focused on the first part of your post, which seemed to question whyhe wouldpay to hunt hogs and imply that he is a lesser hunter. And, I read this second page first, so my interpretation may have been a bit tainted... My mistake, and I apologize.
The sentence of mine which you quote was really directed more to Pighunter56.

To Carpmaster- The rifle I use is aBrowning BLR 81 in.358 Win.
I have been using this rifle since 1990 and have come to love it very much.
Very accurate and does the job quite well- Thanks for asking...
To ipscshooter- thanks for the support. As you stated, many conclusions were jumped to without the facts.
I do hunt hogs in a preserve because its only a 3 hour ride away and thats the closest I can get to a hog in only a weekends worth of time. The hog/ram area is 140 acres. The deer/elk area is 3 times that size. I only do the hogs. Deer and elk huntingare fair chase only. I will offer a plus to being on a preserve with deer and elk on it. You can sit for an hour or two and watch them with your binocs. Good way to learn how to judge size becuase you see so many. This knowledge can then be applied to regular deer/elk hunts. Hunting in NJ/NY does not allow for alot of larger rack assessments. A big deer by us is 125"... most are much smaller.
The other reason is that my wife truly loves the fresh pork we get out of these hogs. Its taste is much better than store bought pork and she loves to cook it. She's been encouraging me to go shoot one for the past year. Well, I finally got around to it!

I feel sorry for you, for living in NJ, thats gotta stink. Ya know, some people actually have to "hunt" that ram, or that hog, they don't have it handed to them on a platter. I'd say that you've pretty much proved what I've always assumed, people from the east, always take the cheap way out.
I actually feel sorry for you. Oh, and how about them Cowboys

Actually pighunter, I live in Nj, its not bad! Lots of great public land to hunt, awesome fishing both fresh and saltwater, lots of deer and turkeys. As for people from the east, well, I am sure I can't change your mind. Won't matter that I hunt fish and trap and never would hunt a preserve (in fact I only hunt public land in Nj) because you have your mind set, which is a shame. Some people cant understand that hunters are a brotherhood and we should all support each other, but I guess you feel you get to judge EVERYONE based on their location...

Sorry, I don't even watch pro football, or any sports for that matter, but, I will say, I'd rather hunt in Texas, then live in New Jersey.
