those accubonds look pretty good, i might have to try them out in my gun, i use winchester silvertips and had great success with them, i got a couple that i retrieved from my moose i shot last year, it was about 300-350 yrds away, if anyone is interested let me know i can post the pictures for ya to check out the mushromming on the silvertips.

50% weight retention after hitting a mixture of sand and sandstone is pretty good. My experience so far with the Accubonds is that they will normally run about 75% when recovered from game.

That's only around 50% weight retention. I don't think that's very good for medium game. I'd rather shoot Partitions and get 80% or better weight retention.

Aren't the Nosler Partitions and Accubonds only designed for 50-70% weight retention? That seems pretty good especially considering what those bullets were shot into.

Accubonds:
I didn't see anything on Nosler's website about the weight retention on the partitions, but I didn't look all that hard for it. Partitions are designed to expand and lose the front and the "H" keeps the back in tact. If they bonded the front of the partitions that would be an exceptional bullet I would think. Like before, I consider what these bullets went into to be much more 'harsh' than a whitetail and they seemed to hold exceptionally well. I'm a fan so far.....we'll see what they do on deer, but so far I see them as being a great bullet. There has to be someone out there with accubond experience for other calibers....how did they fair?
1. Fully tapered, heavy alloy jacket is bonded to the special lead alloy core through a proprietary process designed for controlled expansion, deep penetration and 60-70% weight retention.

From their website -
The Accubond -
And the Partition -
The Accubond -
1. Fully tapered, heavy alloy jacket is bonded to the special lead alloy core through a proprietary process designed for controlled expansion, deep penetration and 60-70% weight retention.
5. Enclosed rear core retains more than half the original bullet weight for deep penetration.

Well, I shot a cow elk with a .270 AI back in December using the Accubond. Broadside at about 325 yards, the bullet went through both lungs and exited - although I suspect not by much. Elk stumbled about 25 yards and fell over. My only "complaint" was that the bullet appeared to open up fairly fast (like a partition), making a sizeable hole through the ribs, and then settled into a finger size wound channel through the lungs. In contrast, the Swift Scirocco out of the same gun makes a small hole through the ribs - and a pretty big hole in the lungs. End results were pretty good, though.
