Get the best ever made here:

Which reminds me, I had better get an order in myself for one of these for a future project.

oldelk, I didn't mean the the Mauser action isn't a good piece. It is one of the best! It's just that they are soooo big. If you spend the money on a fine, moden rifle the big 98's sometimes are out of place compared to many of the streamlined actions like Sako and Remington 700's.

I dunno, savage actions look a lot less streamlined and certainly a lot clunkier than a mauser, not to mention that winchesters and rugers are just cheap copies of mauser actions

S151... as much as I like the Rem action I don't like it with a 375 case. I much prefer an action that is designed for a big round. I have thought about the Sako 75 as well but for some strange reason I am really attracted to big Mauser actions.

Remington 700 are by far the most used action when building a gun. Pretty tough action. I myself would choose a 700 because of the durability.

If you completely disassemble a mauser 98 action then completely disassemble a remington 700 action and compare them side by side, the remington looks like a toy by comparison. Doesn't mean the remington will ever fall apart on you, but in the way of 'toughness' the reminton really pales in comparison.
