+p loads in 2nd generation Colt
I just bought a 2nd generation colt in 38 special. Will it be ok to use the +p loads? .. I looked them up and the pressures are not much higher. 17k to 20k ... I think it will be ok but want to be sure ..

You need to define "OK". Will they blow up your handgun? No. Will they accelerate wear? Yes. They big question is, "how MUCH will they accelerate wear?". I don't know. Me? For plinking and practcie, I would stick to standard pressure cartridges in that gun.

You might want to consult with Colt's customer service and provide them with the serial number, they would be able to determine the exact date of manufacture and possibly if it's +p capable. My suggestion would be to explore the 38special rounds that are already out on the market, because it's still a popular cal and a great self defence/plinker with an assorment of ammunition to chose from to do the job.
