The out of the box accurate stories, about the Savage rifles,is true!
Don't get me wrong, but it is true.I've shot alot of guns,in the last 50 years and the Savage rifles amazed me!!!!!I had a few decent Remingtons, also, but they took some work!!!!!I am talking about shooting from the bench at BR shoots.
The one thing that I don't like, with the Savage,is their darn black tupperware stock! It is like shooting with your barrel mounted into a noodle!!!!Buy wood. Also, the prices of their rifles is not bad.

My Remington 700 VLS .223 shoots under 1/2" at 100 yards, the only thing I did to it was lighten the trigger to 2 lbs. Personally I would consider the Ruger 77 VT.

I'm a wood and blued guy myself. Either rifle would be a good choice. I'd have to give a nod to the Savage for the price and you absolutely can't beat a Savage out of the box for accuracy. They are ugly ba-----s though.[:'(]That having been said, I think whichever one fits you the best is the rifle for you. Handle both, you'll know.
