Default High Performance Sabots

As Sabot technology is currently in a stage of rapid advancement, it seems every year new and potential better sabots are born. These sub-caliber rounds are best shot out of full length rifled 22+ in barrels. They are created for shooters looking for the flatest trajectory while maintaining acceptable deer killing downrange energy,(1000-1200ft/lbs).
The current standards for this small group are, advertised sub 2in accuracy at 100yds, flat trajectories, (+/- 3in at 125+), and retained energy excess of 1000ft/lbs beyond point blank range.
Understandably, these sometimes costly slugs are not for everyone. But for those slug gun hunters that are trying to ring the most out of there guns, I wanted to start a post that listed some of the best high performance Sabots.
Please add any new sabots you might know of that fit this description..

Remmington Core Lokt Ultra...

The ultimate in shotgun sabot slugs. Ultra-high velocities deliver devastating on-game performance and the tightest groups —1.8" — of any shotgun slug with ultra-flat trajectories. Remington® patented spiral nose cuts ensure consistent 2x expansion over a wide range of terminal velocities, while the sleek, ogive nose delivers high down-range energy retention. The 385-grain bonded bullet yields near 100% weight retention. Flattest shooting slug in existence — 10% better than the nearest competition. Designed for use in fully rifled barrels only. In response to the overwhelming success of the 12-gauge load, this year we’re offering a new 20-gauge, 260-grain load for those who prefer the low recoil of a smaller gauge slug.

Hornady SST

Hornady’s NEW SST™ Shotgun Slug allows you to bring unheard of accuracy and terminal performance to slug-only areas. The super-accurate SST™ bullet delivers sub-2" groups
at 100 yards; and the flattest trajectory on the market.

The polymer tip of Hornady’s field-proven SST™ help it slice through the air, minimizing drop and wind drift. And, when the bullet strikes its target, the tip initiates violent expansion, transferring its energy payload to the target, ensuring a swift kill

And I have tried them all with erratic performance. My 1oz remington coppersolid 2.75" still beats them all in accuracy. I have yet to see consistent 2MOA groups from the remingtons. I really wanted them to work too. But whats the use of a high velocity slug with great BC if I get two shots touching and then another one 4" away at 100 yards?

BC...That is exactly the point of listing these various sabots. Some can very erratic in a particular gun. Having a few different brands available gives each shooter an opportunity to find what shoots best in their particular gun. A slug gun is no different than a rifle. If you want the best accuracy your gun is capable of, you must be willing to spend time at the range finding what cartridge it shoots best.
I shot about 6 different kinds before finding that the Remington Ultras shoot best in my gun. Not only are they consistent, I can get 1 to 1-1/2 groups with a rest.
The coppersolids are by far the best of the mid range sabots. They seem to shoot well in a wide variety of guns. Ditto on the midrange 2-3/4 Lightfields.

Well, my point if a little different from yours. I have noticed alot of folks getting erratic performance with the remington ultras. I am glad you didn't wish I had your results. I have had 3 slugs guns and have tried about all the slugs out there. And my point is consistently, the lightfields and 2.75" coppersolid is your best chance.

I never did subscribe to the idea that all guns have entirely different personalities. Some on here like to say that and there are exception to the rules for sure. But there is no voodoo magic to these rifles or slugguns. If it doesn't shoot in one and you have to compensate for that by handloading, or dropping your charge or whatever, then you are compensating for a problem.

I learned this off of Melvin Forbes for NULAs. One of the most down to earth guys you can meet. As he says, if all the right pieces are lined up, you shouldn't have to go thru serious pains to get a rifle to shoot. And from what I have seen, he proves it in spades with his rifles. I was telling him that with my customs, I always have to make sure the action screws are set up for 35 inch pounds, and etc. He explained I was compensating for something, and probably poor bedding.

This would imply that if these sabots don't shoot well in your gun, it has poor bedding. I don't think that is what you mean.

jcc, I don't really care so much but would hate for a bunch of people go out and fuel remington by buying these and having poor results with out knowing it is a possibility. So I posted that I have had poor results, with several guns.

My point is these high speed slugs seem to be erratic to me. Also, my other point is I don't believe guns are individuals so much as people try to make them out to be.
