The rifle or cartridge?

Yopu can get the cartridge chambered in a number of high end rifles.

The cartridge is all but worthless IMHO. It is so far past overbore that it isn't funny. It burns tons of powder, creates tons of muzzle blast, kicks very sharply, needs a muzzle brake which creates more blast and noise, erodes the throat of a barrel incredibly quickly, costs huge ammounts of money to feed it ammo, doesn't do anything any better than a regular 300 win mag can do under 400 yards.

The 30-378 firing a 180 grain accubond bullet at 3420 fps will have a maximum range of +- 3 inches out to 340 yards. A 300 winchester mag firing the same bullet at 3000 fps will have a maximum range of +- 3 inches out to 310 yards. Is the extra 30 yards of range honestly worth a hundred bucks for a box of rounds, the super short 500 rounds fired barrel life, the excessive muzzle blast, excessive noise, etc... ?

Unless you are firing 200 grains or heavier bullets and at distances far exceding 500 yards you gain squat over the 300 Winchester and even less over the 300 Weatherby magnums.
