Welcome to the board, MSL. Hope you hang around and join in.

A couple places to get parts for your Savage M-340 are:

Numrich Gun Parts Corp http://www.e-gunpatrs.com

and Bob's Gun Parts http://www.gun-parts.com

I have one of these guns.It is really a nice little gun .You can use pointed bullets if you reload. That makes it all the better.Loading 30-30s can be tricky. The case will sometimes colapse.I loaded some 150 gr.ballistic tips they performed great. But I had a problem with O.A.L. They did not want to cycle right out of the clip.I would stick one in the chamber and it was a deadly little piece.

I just received my schematics for my 340 from e-gunparts.com. Only a buck fifty and has a blowup picture and part list. Mine shoots real sweet when I compensate 9 inches left at 100 yards<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> There is no windage adjustment on either sight, so I just bid on a 3-12x50 BSA on ebay. 3-12x50 may be a bit of overkill since it is unlikely I will have a shot greater than 150 yds in my neck of the woods, but the price was right.

I inherited mine from my father in law. He bought it in '58 and it stayed in his closet till last year. This is the first year I have shot it and am very happy. I can make a milkjug dance at 100 yds. when I compensate...can't wait for the scope!

Thanks guys for the sites im just looking for sites that will have parts when i need them. Also bluesranger you got a schematic of the gun how do you know what letter you have with your model 340 like example 340w how do i find that i know it says 340 on the side but nothing like a letter by it. My grandfather had the savage 30.30 when i was growing up as a kid and he would let me shoot it when we would go hunting and i was always dead on with it kinda like it fit me perfect well he passed away and the gun was given to someone else in the family and they got rid of it i didnt get a chance to get it but anyways i saw this exact gun so i picked it up for $140 and its in pretty good shape. I havent gotten to shoot it but im going out today to the range to see how it does and i will let you guys know how it does.

MSL,
Near as I can figger if it just says 340 (mine does) it is a 340a and it was manufactured pre-1960. I could be wrong, but, the schematic is for all 340s and others like 325, etc.
