Ruger M77 Compact .260

RE: Ruger M77 Compact .260
I'd want to hear one before I made up my mind. I had a 94 Swede once, and thought it was too loud. Of course there weren't hearing aids with loud noise cut outs in those days. You couldn't wear ear plugs and hunt effectively. It certainly was a handy piece though. Right now I'm using a rechambered Arisaka with a 19" barrel, for a knock around rifle. It seems ok.

RE: Ruger M77 Compact .260
i've got a rem model 7 in 260 rem, actually it's my wifes gun, but i carry this thing 98% of the time, i also bought a barrel for my encore in 260 rem, it is light toten, minimal recoil, and very accurate out of both guns, plenty of bullet combos factory loads available, and plenty of bullet choice's for hand-loaders. i love the 260 and it has earned "keeper" status with me. btw when i was looking for a rifle for my wife i was looking for a 7mm-08 model 7, and a buddy of mine made me a sweet deal on the 260, he has tried to buy it back twice, and if i ever sold it he'd get the first shot, but i don't see this one going anywhere
best of luck, the ruger compact is a nice looking rifle, i've never shot one my only conern on rugers is the trigger, i own(ed) several and all needed trigger work, but all have been great shooters, i still have my no 1 and a model 77, and a few 10/22's so i dont think you can go wrong with the compact.
best of luck let us know what you end up with
