Yeah, their website claims we'll find out what caliber the 2005 700 Classic willbe in today. LIES!!![>:] Hopefully it will be on the site tomorrow!

I managed to find a 2004 700 Classic in November, an 8x57. I'm having a great time working up a hunting load for it. I wish they would make a 700 in 6.5x55 again.

Yes Remington is building a new stainless. It will be available with a stock in Mossy Oak Breakup. They likewise ARE adding the 270 and 300 WSMs too the 700 lineup. Yes they ARE dropping their SAUMs. The big Ultras will still be offered but gone are the shorties. I dont know about ammo, but believe the will continue to offer SAUM ammo, but probably in its limited range of offerings like presently (which is why I think they never caught on as well).

Rem. is changing ALOT of things this year. The ADL as we know it is gone. Remington is leaving the 710 to fill the need for a cheaper priced rifle. The ADLs replacement will be two rifles called the SPS (Special Purpose like in the shotgun line). They will be priced in the mid $300-$400 range and will be available in a detachable boxed magazine also including the WSMs. At least for next season these guns will be hard to get, BACKORDER city. A WSM in a 700 detach box mag for under $400? Remington FINALLY saw the light!!!

Winch gonna have a heck of a time sellin 70 Shadows after these catch up,
RA

RA. What is your opinion of the Black Shadow or super shadow or whatever they are making now? I can't keep track of their models. Thanks!

James I think the entire "shadow 70" line is a great bargain. A couple of months ago I bought my brother-in-law a SilverShadow in 300WSM as a "good luck/thank you" gift as he is leaving for Iraq. He got to come home for Christmas and shot the gun for the first time. It shoots very well (he was only able to put about 5 rounds through it to sight it in before he hunted with it) I suspect it will continue to tighten up for another box or two as it breaks in.

For the price you get a VERY well handling, lightweight rifle that has a legendary action, decent build quality and carrys like a dream. I dont mind the blind magazine as well (I grew up on a ADL in the early 80s) but realize some think they MUST have a clip for their pocket. I put a 3.5X10X40 Monarch on it and he is just in heaven with the rifle. I only hope he returns safely from Iraq in a year or two so that he can put it too good use. LOL he did note that it "got his attention" after about 3 rounds. But any 300WSM that light is gonna kick a lil. But its nothing that is un-managable.

Good luck,
RA

The model "700 Classic" is going to be in 308 Win. That what a "rep" at Remington told me last week!

Hey Red.

I like you hope that ALL of our MEN and WOMEN make it back.

I have heard that the Win Super Shadow is a very nice rifle for the money.

Good Luck and happy Hunting.

I'd like them to offer the 7400 Semiauto in the 35 Whelen, it would be even better in the laminated stock.
