12 Guage for me?
Hey im turning 14 in january. But i have to pick if i want a 12 or a 20. Im leaning towards a remington 870 express 12 G because im a young adult and want a gun to last me. But at the age of 14 is this gun to much power? Is there light slugs for the Remington 870? Also Does this gun come in semi auto or just pump? I checked out the remington site and didnt see any semi's for the 870 so im assuming theres no semi's. I want to hear your oppinions. Oh Btw Which remington 870 should i get? The barrels seem to be as much as the gun. I want a all around Upland, Deer, Waterfowl, And small game shotgun.

RE: 12 Guage for me?
Congrats on the upcoming birthday.
The Remington 870 is a pump action weapon only.
IMHO, go for the 12 gauge. I started with a 12 gauge at 10 years old (Winchester Model 12, also a pump).
I would recommend to anyone getting their "basic set" of long guns to get:
a 22LR,
a 12 gauge,
and a 30-06
You just can't go wrong.

for your purposes geta 28" barrel. i have one on my bps and it works great. i mainly use it for shoot trap with it but i did take it out upland this year. its rather heavy but the 28" barrel give you a little more shooting distanceover teh 26"
