Lever action stuff
I recently purchased a Marlin 1895 in 45/70. I would like to replace the factory stock with either a laminated or synthetic version with a longer LOP. I have seen a few customized Marlins in articles, but am not having any luck finding the source of these aftermarket goodies.
Also, I would appreciate any comments on mounting a scope on this rifle. I have considered the scout style mount by XS with a Leupold M8 4 power, and also the VX2 2x7x33 on standard mounts. This will mainly be a close quarters rifle, bears over bait, blacktail and elk in our miserable Northwest forests (<100 yards)
Thanks for any help you may offer.

I know there are companies that make synthetic stocks for marlins, try cabelas or any other catalog. A gun shop could probably order them too.
If you can't get a longer LOP by a stock alone, consider adding a recoil pad. It may have a double benefit.
Mine wears a peep sight, but my friend has a scope on his. Just a Bushnell Banner, dusk to dawn low power variable. No problems with it at all. I like the scout concept, never picked one up to check it out though.

Wild west custom guns makes synthetic stocks you can either get it fitted by them to the tune of 500+ dollars or you can get it unfinished for 250. You can also get the oversized lever loop, the one piece ejector, aluminum magazine follower, lots of little goodies.
I went with XS systems scout mount and ghost ring sights. Brownells carries a lot of cool guide gun excessories. This is mine with leupold 2.5x IER scout scope and xs systems sights and mount.
Brockmans is another one that makes some cool lever stuff.
