Just bought a Ruger M-77 Mark II 25-06.
I went to town looking for a 25-WSSM & came home with a 25-06. From what I have been told the two rounds are ballistic twins.
The rifle is a Ruger M-77 Mark II, it has a Target grey barrel & grey laminated stock. This is a sporter rifle, not the big varmit rilfe.
I topped it with a Burris Fullfield II 4.5x14x42mm ballistic plex scope.
I took it to the range today & sighted it in. I used Federal Premium Vital-Shok 100grain Nosler Ballistic tip ammo. The first 5-shots were used to get the rifle where I wanted it to be at 100-yards. I cleaned the rifle & shot a 3-shot group at a new target. The 3-shot group measured 3/4" at 100-yards. I think I am going to like this rifle. When I have time this winter, I will find a good handload for it.
I bought this rifle because I wanted a light weight carry rifle for deer & antelope hunting. With the right bullets it should also make a good(coyote/fox) varmit rifle.

Congrats on the purchase,I think you will be pleasantly suprised with the 25-06,I have owned or own 4 and they have always done what I have asked of them and more.
The 3 ruger I have owned all liked bullets weights in 115-117 gr and I like that weight also for bigger mulies and maybe a elk.
I was not impressed with 115 gr Silvert Tips from winchester, but I realy like the 115 noslers from federal.
Also is that a special model you have?I'm in the market for a new 25-06 since I gave my brother my Ruger #1 for his boy to shoot.
Can I ask the price and from whom you bought it?
Thanks BBJ

I got the rifle on sale for $ 512 the retail sticker price was $569.
Below is the exact information as it appers on the box. I hope this helps you find one.
Catalog NO. KM77R BBZTG
S CALIBER 25-06 REM
MODEL 17853

The stock is a grey laminated sporter, the barrel is 24" sporter with a grey(teflon?) finish.
I hope this information helps?

Nice gun WK and a lot better then the 25WSSM I may add, I had a 22 magnum with that finish and I think it is Peened with some sort of oxide that gives it that look. I once called Rugers CS and told them that if they made that SS finish standard I would own nothing but rugers. That 25wssm should die a fast death if my hunch is true. Guy designing the WSSM's and managers approving it need to get their head out of their A@@.

Thank WK,I called them and I will have one by the end of the month,I'm going for the 3-9 x40 Buris w/ Balistic plex.
They are sure nice looking.I left the pet load for my #1.Also the 85gr hollow points are a devestating coyote round.

On a side note they were sold out of several scopes that day. They said sales were booming. This is my first Burris. I hope they are as good as I have been told? I have two simmons scopes on varmit rifles. All of my other scopes are Leupolds.
I figured this rifle would make a great carry rifle for coyotes, fox, antelope & deer. All of my varmit rifles are HEAVY. The only other light rifle I own is a Ruger M-77 300-win mag.

i have had a ruger m-77 mk2 in 25.06 for about 4 years the trigger is heavy about 5 lbs. but it is consistant it will shoot inside of 1" mine prefers the hornady custom 117 btsp factory loads. the last deer i took with this rifle was 312 yds. he never knew what hit him.
