RE: want to buy a good flat shooting accurate caliber
I will be shooting 100-300 yards. Brushy or field. Im not recoil shy. White tail, and the reason i want a powerfull rifle for deer hunting is because i like to blow the hell out of stuff for fun.

Since you have the 30 cal covered with the 06 and as well own a .243, with a 100-300 yard mark on deer you have lots of flat shooting choices. Sounds like you want a mag so to spread it you could look at a 270wsm or 7mm rem mag. This would add some diversity to your gun cabinet and both would be able to handle your requirements on any given day.
I use a 7mm rem mag for deer(WT and Mule), elk and moose it has had no problems taking any of these game at varing ranges. Lots of bullet choice for the .284 and OTC 7mm rem mag ammo is readily available if you buy factory loads.

MY favorite flat shooters are the .308 and the 7MM Rem. Mag.
If you want big boom and flat my vote is for the 7MM Rem. Mag.
It's all depends on what you want to do with it. More important than caliber is shot placement and that comes from practice and good practice....
Which ever you pick just keep a steak for me......

As you stated in a post you will be shooting to a max of 300 yards. The 30-06 is very capable of making 300 yard shots. If you would like more power and a flatter trajectory look for some Federal Premium High Energy or Hornady Light Magnum loads. These loads will propel 150 gr. bullets at 3100 fps and 165 gr. loads at 3000. This gain in velocity will flatten your trajectory and increase your downrange energy levels. Going to a 7MM or 300 Magnum will not make your bullets death rays. Proper shot placement will still be required to take a game animal. Invest the money you would spend on a new gun in ammo for practicing and upgrade your scope if you are not using top of the line glass.
If you just have to have a new rifle I would look to the 270, 7MM, or 300 WSM. The 7MM Remington Mag. & 300 Win. Mag. are also viable choices. The recoil from these will not be severely worse than the 30-06 you already own. If you go to the 300 Rem Ultra Mag or 30-378 you will experience noticeably more recoil and muzzle blast. Still with any larger cartridge that you buy shot placement is critical. Shooting a deer in the hoof with an ultra mag won't kill it any better than shooting it with a .22. This is my .02 cents worth.

For a flat shooting gun, with the big power your looking for and fairly light recoil, you can't beat the 7mm Rem Mag. For me, the last two years in a row, 2 bucks, 400 yard shots, 7mm did the trick. Also have shot moose, elk, Bighorn sheep and Mountain goat with the 7mm. Never experienced a problem. Go for the 7mm.
