i do all my practicing w/ the .22 because its cheaper..in the other post i told about my target shooting...but for fun i go out in my backyard with my 10/22...i simulate distance w/ small targets and my 2x-7x scope zoomed out...what i do is tear the tops off soda cans, and use the holes to hang them from branches on brush..then i will shoot them from all sorts of awquard hunting positions from many angles..since they are hung on the branches i also practice follow-up shots. i also practice shooting them really fast....not shot after shot....but quick draw aim fire...this helps to naturally position the rifle durring real hunting situations
