Default Mossberg 500

I bought a Mossberg 500. Can shoot slugs and buckshot through the ported barrels?

The ported barrel will have no problem shooting the slugs or buck shot. Be sure to shoot rifled slugs because saboted slugs will not stabalize in a smooth bore.

you can buy a rifled choke tube, they will stabilize a sabot slug enough for deer shots to 40 yards.

the rifled slug barrels are made for sabot slugs.......a smooth bore will shot all the other slugs fine i believe....and buckshot too.....porting just lets gas out and i believe.....and reduce recoil.....dont see how buckshot or slugs will be affected by porting.......alot of pistol barrels are ported.....along with some rifle barrels.......should be fine......read the manual and such...it will tell you what you can and cant shoot

It`ll be fine just dont expect it to drive tacks. And just incase never shoot slugs or buck shot through a turkey choke and I believe they say dont shoot slugs through a full choke but i may be mistaken on that last one

In the manual for the Mossberg 500 it specifically warns against shooting slugs through the full choke tube. Too much contriction.

I believe that you will be the most accurate though a Improves Cylinder, or i think they make a choke specially made for slugs, but the least restriction on the slug the better.
