cal for mulies
Hi guys. I have a combo hunt for antelope and mulies coming up soon and I'm going to be using my .270 as my primary rifle. I want to take a back-up just in case and I'm debating on taking my Ruger 77 300 WM or my Browning Micro Hunter 7mm-08. I know the Ruger is more than enough for mulies well past 250 yds. but the little Browning is a joy to carry.
My question is: Have any of you used the 7-08 for mulies, and if so, how did it perform?I will be shooting handloads - 150 gr spire pt in front of 46 gr of IMR4350. This load shoots good out of this rifle.

You should get lots of opinions, and mine is that all you need is the 270
Use the 270 as your primary weapon. Bring the 7mm-08 or 300 as a back up rifle just incase something happens to the scope on your 270.

thanks for the input guys. I have to shoot the 7-08 at 300 yds. and see how it performs.
I just came back for shooting my 270 and it was shooting its normal consistancy again.
I was shooting both 130 gr Nosler ballistic tips and 130 gr Sierra game kings. Three each at 300 yds. All 6 were in a 2 1/2" group. I was well pleased with the new Burris Ballistic ples Full-field II scope. I just put the 300 yd reticle on the target and let her fly.
With my load (54 gr of IMR 4350.) sighted in dead on at 100 yds. the 300 yd reticle was shooting about 2" above center.
