An 870 combo with a 26-28" barrel for birds, and the fully rifled, iron sighted barrel for deer with give you the best of both worlds. Most critters are not shot at extremely long range, and a high quality, sabot-slug will reach out to around 200 yards with "relative ease". There are scope mounts available that require no drilling, so that takes care of that. And having one versatile gun can be a good thing. Beware the hunter with one gun.

RE: Im New to hunting
Hello & welcome to this great sport. I'm a Jersey hunter as well(southern part of the state) & I started hunting 20 years ago with a $100, 29" stevens pump. I hunted deer, pheasant, quail, & squirrel and would have hunted turkey this past spring(first time for turkey) with it if I hadn't picked up a Mossberg 835 at Dick's for $269. Not a bad gun for the buck.
One gun might not be perfect for everything, but you can make do just fine when your just getting started. Good luck!

ORIGINAL: D33rHunter2424Im a youth hunter of 13. Im wonder what is a good all around gun. My dad and I are interested in deer hunting, And turkey hunting. Does anyone know of any good guns for hunting deer and birds? Price range $150-$250 for shotguns.
Check out the new NEF pump for under $200.00. It has choke tubes, so you can use it for almost anyhting. Another possibility would be to check out the auction sites, and get a used Ithaca M37 or comparable gun.
